Increase in theft from unattended motor vehicles

The NN46 Beat Team have noticed an increase in reported thefts from unattended motor vehicles in ASHBY since June 2026. We’re only 10 days into August and we’re already at the same amount for this month as the preceding two. Please can we remind people to lock their car doors and remove items from view.

Locking your vehicle, even when parked on your drive or on the road outside your house, greatly reduces the possibility of it being targeted by an opportunist thief. Even if you have locked your vehicle, check you haven’t left any windows or the sunroof open.
