I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Vehicle crime (theft from or theft of), which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. 🚗 PREVENT VEHICLE CRIME
Vehicle crime can happen in seconds, but there are simple steps you can take to reduce the risk of becoming a victim.
🔒 Lock your vehicle – Always check that your doors, windows and sunroof are fully secured, even when parked on your driveway or when you’re only away for a short time.
🔑 Keep your keys secure – Keep car keys away from doors and windows. If your vehicle has keyless entry, consider using a signal-blocking/Faraday pouch.
🚫 Don’t leave valuables in your vehicle – Phones, wallets, bags, tools and other valuables can attract opportunist thieves. Ideally, take them with you.
👀 Check before you leave – Make sure your vehicle is actually locked. Electronic signals can sometimes be blocked by thieves.
💡 Park safely – Where possible, park in a well-lit, busy area or a staffed car park.
🛞 Consider additional security – Steering wheel locks, locking wheel nuts, immobilisers and trackers can provide an extra layer of protection.
📄 Keep documents out of your vehicle – Don’t leave your V5C, insurance documents or other paperwork containing vehicle details inside the car.
