Drugs: What's the point?

On 05/08/2026, our team received information regarding a vehicle believed to be involved in drug dealing within the town.

Following a sighting, our team located the vehicle and dramatically stopped it on Charlton Road, Wantage, securing the driver. 
A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of a significant amount of cash and several deals of white powder.

A question we are sometimes asked is: "Why do the police spend so much time targeting drug dealers when another one often appears days later?"
The answer is simple. The harm caused by drugs extends far beyond those directly involved.

Drug dealing is rarely a case of someone willingly selling something to someone willingly buying it. 
Dealers themselves can be exploited, threatened, or subjected to violence in order to continue supplying drugs. 
Buyers are often vulnerable people suffering from serious addiction, and the tactics used by dealers to ensure a "customer" remains dependent can be horrific.

The impact reaches right across our communities. Drug dealing destroys lives, tears families apart, fuels violence, and causes immense harm to residents and businesses alike.

That is why we remain committed to tackling those responsible. Even if a new dealer appears every day, we will continue to target them one at a time for the sake of our community.
