Trentham and Hanford - ASB reports, update on vehicle thefts, important crime prevention advice and Street Surgeries.

Firstly, a very warm welcome to everyone who has joined Staffordshire Smart Alerts over the last week or two. There are now 1495 persons registered to receive these updates in Trentham and Hanford, which is brilliant!

Staffordshire Smart Alert Appeals – Anti-social behaviour.

We have received reports of juveniles knocking, kicking at door(s) and engaging in anti-social behaviour in the early hours of this morning (04/08/26).

The incidents occurred in Danebower Rd and Baltic Cl.

Meadow Lane/Chessington Cr -junction.

Road safety concerns have been raised regarding vehicles pulling out of this junction, not looking for traffic / pedestrians. If you do use this junction, please drive slowly and safely when exiting here. If you could please pass on this advice to anyone you know who may benefit from reading this – thank you. 

Theft of motor vehicles updates

Regarding the theft of motor vehicles that occurred on our area recently, including the report on 31/07/26, whereby two vehicles were stolen from an address on Kings Rd. The investigation continues to be progressed, and I am happy to report that both vehicles have now been located. I am continuing to liaise with the officers investigating the incidents and will update you all as soon as I know more. 

Crime Prevention

In recent weeks you may have heard that I launched a crime prevention initiative across Trentham and Hanford, called ‘We Knocked To Check You Locked’. 

The aim of this initiative is to promote crime prevention advice and to reduce the number of opportunities for those wishing to carry out criminal acts on our area. 

Over the last few days, I have visited a number of locations, some randomly and others where there have been issues. These locations have included, Chatsworth Park Ave, Kings Rd, Redcar Rd, Burrington Dr, Talsarn Gr, Chessington Cr, The Dreys as well as a number of individual addresses across the area. 

During these visits I have come across a number of properties, where there was no reply to knocking but the windows to the property had been left open. I have also attended several addresses where vehicles had been left unoccupied with the windows down.

I therefore wanted to send out some important crime prevention advice. In reviewing incidents both recently and historically, these crime prevention tips, although simple, can be incredibly effective in crime prevention. 

Always lock your vehicle and remove any valuable items when leaving it unoccupied.

Always check that your vehicle windows are fully up when left unoccupied - even if you are only leaving it for a few minutes. 

Lock your front door at all times. 

With the good weather, many of us will be spending time in the back garden. If you are using the back garden, ensure your front door is locked and front windows are closed. 

CCTV

CCTV is not only an excellent evidence gathering tool, it is acts as a deterrent. If you have CCTV or are considering it, place it overtly where it can be seen. 

If having CCTV is not currently an option, consider obtaining a ‘decoy camera’. These are cameras that are not operational but still can act as a deterrent. 

Alongside CCTV/ Decoy Cameras – consider placing ‘CCTV in operation sign(s)’ – even if you don’t have a camera. 

Ring doorbells- These are becoming increasing popular and something I have been asked about frequently. Do I recommend one? – Absolutely! Some of the best results we have had from enquiries have come from these cameras.
