Edgwick Park Targeted Patrols |
||
|
Dear Resident,
Foleshill Neighbourhood Team (NHT) are working hard to tackle Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) within Edgwick Park and neighbouring areas.
Officers from Foleshill NHT conduct regular patrols within these areas and remind members of the public who decide to commit crime or cause ASB within this area, that there is a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) in place for Edgwick Park and surrounding areas. Those committing ASB or crime with be dealt with robustly. ASB has an impact to the communities we serve and West Midlands Police takes reports of ASB seriously, we understand the impact this has on all of those involved. We want to create a safe space in our community to ensure all can enjoy without the fear of Crime and ASB within the Park.
Police Officers have a number of powers to deal with individuals committing crime and ASB, with all officers within West Midlands Police (Police Officers and Police Community Support Officers) have the power to issue PSPO's for those causing ASB or likely to cause ASB, where their behaviour has or is likely to have a detrimental effect on the quality of life of those in the community.
The Order states the following: "The Council of the City of Coventry (“the Council”) hereby makes the following Public Spaces Protection Order (Edgwick Park Anti-Social Behaviour) under Sections 59 to 75 of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.
This Order shall come into operation on 28 April 2025 and shall have effect for a period of 3 years thereafter, unless extended by further orders under the Council’s statutory powers. This Order relates to Edgwick Park and the bordering streets (“the Designated Area”)as shown edged in red on the plan. The purpose of this order is to prevent any activities associated with Child Sexual Exploitation or any type of anti-social behaviour in the Designated Area including but not limited to fighting, drinking alcohol, drug taking and dealing, urinating and littering. The Council makes this Order because it is satisfied on reasonable grounds that groups of people within the Designated Area are and have carried out anti-social activities including the procurement of young people for sex. These activities are persistent and continuing and have resulted in members of the community feeling intimidated and unsafe. The effect of this Order is to prohibit the congregation of groups of 2 or more persons in the Designated Area where the behaviour of some or all members of the group has or is likely to have a detrimental effect on the quality of life of those in the community. Full details of the Order can be find by visiting: Edgwick PSPO. The Map attached shows the location of the PSPO designated area in red.
If you have been affected by ASB or would like to report ASB, please visit our website: Report antisocial behaviour | West Midlands Police where you can report ASB online. Remember in an emergency always call 999, in non-emergencies call 101.
