Weekly round-up from your local Neighbourhood Team

Hello Residents of Bordesley Green, 

This week has seen much cooler weather than we have experienced recently, which is a welcome surprise! We hope it has been a fun, productive and relaxing week for all. 

The Bordesley Green Neighbourhood Team have been keeping busy, as per usual, and we would love to update you on our work over the last 6 days. 

Children’s Ward Summer Fair: PC Mohamud, PC Sutheran, PC Johnson, PC Stringer, and PC Cooper all attended Heartlands Hospital on 27/07/26 for a visit to the children’s ward. We spoke to many families and children who were receiving treatment, handing out lovely workbooks and even exhibiting our police vans. And yes – we did flash the sirens! It was a fantastic day and we hope to carry out similar projects in the future.

Pitch2Progress: PC Johnson and PC Sutheran have been continuing their fantastic work at Pitch2 Progress, which is a community-led organisation that supports young people with multiple clubs to build skills and promote wellbeing. We will continue to maintain our connections with such organisations and provide support whenever possible.

Cuppa With A Copper: PC Mohamud attended the Cuppa with a Copper event on 29/07/26. This is a regular event where police make themselves available for general questions from the public. We typically post about the next few events on WMNOW or our Twitter Page, so please be sure to check and see if you can attend the next one!

Vehicle Operation: This week, PC Mohamud, PC Johnson and PC Sutheran have been conducted a vehicle operation whereby we have patrolled known problem areas in Bordesley Green and issued parking tickets. We have also seized vehicles on the road with expired tax. Remember – Tax It Or Lose It!

These are just some of the great events we have been organising and accomplishing. Thank you to everyone in the community that attends our meetings, or emails us about local issues. 

Now, let’s have a look at some crimes of note over the last week:

Robbery: We have had a couple of reports recently regarding Robbery within Bordesley Green. Whilst these incidents are not common, they are very serious and we would like to give residents some safeguarding advice, so they are less likely to be victimised. We caution everyone to remain vigilant to their surroundings, and to ensure all valuables are kept in sealed pockets. When it is affordable to do so, consider getting tracking devices which can help us to locate your items if they are stolen. Also, when possible, stick to well lit, popular routes. If you see something suspicious, report it to the police. We will always listen and make sure we take action when it is appropriate.

Theft: We have seen consistent trends when it comes to theft offences, and want to take a moment to remind everyone of the advice around protecting yourselves from thieves. This can include; ensuring all doors and windows are secured (we appreciate the hot weather makes this difficult so ensure you balance safety with health), avoid leaving valuables in vehicles unattended, and to report any suspicious activity they see. Timely, information-rich reports will help police to track offenders and reduce instances of theft.

Criminal Damage: We have seen some recent criminal damage reports to both property and vehicles. Please ensure that your property is locked and secured, and when affordable please consider getting CCTV. This is a fantastic tool for police to help identify suspects and get positive outcomes for victims.

Fly-Tipping: This is an offence that impacts more than just the community – it impacts the environment. Fly-tipping involves leaving rubbish on public land without license to do so. This includes dumping filled bin bags on the road (excluding when it is Rubbish Collection Day), which we are starting to see more and more often. We want to encourage all residents to dispose of their waste in a legal and responsible manner. We take this offence seriously, and where we are able to gather evidence, we work closely with our partner agencies to identify and prosecute those responsible.

Next, we would like to send a request out to the local community. Bordesley Green Neighbourhood Team are interested in any information regarding residencies where individuals are operating a vehicle trading business.

Whilst we are aware that some businesses will trade in a lawful and considerate manner, we have seen increased issues associated with those who trade from their residencies. This includes increased traffic issues in the residential roads, double parking, and untaxed vehicles that are parked on the public roads. Where we can, we give numerous tickets out to vehicles committing such offences, but with the community's help, we can target our activities to the areas that need it the most. We can also work with partner agencies to ensure we remove the vehicles that should not be in the road at all!
