SPIKE IN MOTOR BIKE THEFTS IN THE MALLINGS

Good afternoon Residents,

Over the last couple of months we have seen a spike in motor bike thefts the Malling area of East Malling, Larkfield, Ditton and Aylesford. I am the crime prevention specialist for Tonbridge and Malling completing an NVQ Level 4 in Crime Prevention last year. I have attached information from the secure by design website which provides really good crime prevention information but in summary I have listed the main areas to assist with making it harder for criminals to get your valuable bikes. They are as follows:

TRACE – Fit a Tracking system

LOCK – Use SBD approved security products

COVER – Covering your bike makes it harder to steal

Don’t forget to remove the keys

Fitting an Alarm and Immobiliser can be a deterrent to thieves

The best place to keep your motorcycle, moped or scooter is in your garage or shed

CCTV – Monitor your home and property
