Good morning, With the warmer weather encouraging more people to visit parks, beauty spots, country parks, canals and other open spaces across Staffordshire, we are reminding residents and visitors to take a few simple precautions to stay safe and help protect our countryside. ✅ Plan ahead
Before setting out, check the weather forecast, tell someone where you're going and ensure your mobile phone is charged. ✅ Stay hydrated and protected
Take plenty of water, wear suitable clothing and footwear, and remember sunscreen, hats and sunglasses during hot weather. ✅ Keep valuables secure
Avoid leaving bags, phones, purses or other valuables unattended. If travelling by car, remove valuables from sight and lock your vehicle before leaving it. ✅ Be mindful around water
Rivers, lakes, canals and reservoirs can look inviting, but open water can be extremely dangerous. Avoid swimming in unsupervised locations and keep a close eye on children at all times. ✅ Respect wildlife and the environment
Take your litter home or use designated bins. Follow local signage and stick to marked paths where possible. ✅ Dog owners
Keep dogs under control, particularly around livestock, wildlife and other visitors. Always clean up after your pet. ✅ Report suspicious activity
If you see suspicious behaviour, damage, antisocial behaviour or illegal off-road bike use, report it to Staffordshire Police via 101 or online. In an emergency, always dial 999. By taking a few simple steps, we can all enjoy Staffordshire's beautiful open spaces safely this summer. Stay safe, stay aware, and enjoy the great outdoors.
