Local Priorities Violent crime Update

I wanted to provide you an update regarding Violent crime, which members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

This evening, PCs Meyer and Lambie attended Bellingham Leisure Centre to speak to the youths who attend the football club about joint enterprise linked to violence. Officers spoke to the group about how getting involved in altercations between groups can lead them to become involved in violence and how that can have a negative impact on their lives. The group were an engaging group, and enjoyed our stories of what we have come across in our day-to-day work. Our message got through about calling police for any violent issues or to speak to one of their adult coaches for assistance by relating it to their football matches - none of them want to miss their football. One of the group asked PC Lambie to shoot a penalty shot... I am pleased to inform you that PC Lambie scored a goal! Bellingham SNT are dedicated to community engagement and speaking to different groups of people of all ages to assist them in fighting crime and leading positive lives such as their football hobbies.
