Hello Custom House, I hope you’re all enjoying the summer sun! Let’s dive straight into the update to see how hot the streets of Custom House got this week. Criminal Damage 23/07/2026: A resident in Woodcocks deliberately cut up a communal hosepipe.24/07/2026: Three men were spotted by a private CCTV monitoring company using an angle grinder on the door lock of Richard House Hospice. Police arrived promptly, and all three men were arrested.Burglary 29/07/2026: Two masked men carrying a weapon broke into a property on Prince Regent Lane. Upon seeing the occupants, they apologised, stated they had the "wrong house", and promptly left.Theft 23/07/2026: The theft of a wheelie bin on Wilkinson Road was captured on a Ring doorbell camera.25/07/2026: A female suspect accompanied by a child was seen stealing a parcel from outside a property in Colman Road. CCTV of the incident is currently being reviewed.27/07/2026: A cycle-enabled phone snatch near Ashburton Woods resulted in a group of youths fleeing from police in Canning Town Recreation Ground. Two males were apprehended, but the victim could not positively identify them as the suspects. The victim's phone was found smashed nearby.26/07/2026: A victim reported a pickpocketing incident in Cundy Park. No suspects were seen.27/07/2026: Three males on bicycles snatched a phone directly from a pedestrian's hand on Prince Regent Lane.Theft of Motor Vehicle 23/07/2026: A delivery motorbike was stolen from Tollgate Road.28/07/2026: A second motorbike was reported stolen from Tollgate Road. If you find an item on the street (such as a mobile phone) and do not make reasonable efforts to find the owner, or if you conceal it in a way that shows you have no intention of returning it (such as turning it off or wrapping it in foil), you can be prosecuted for Theft by Finding. (This was particularly relevant to an incident in Beckton this week when an officer left his phone on the car roof when speeding off to an emergency call. It was later tracked to a delivery driver who was concealing it) |
