Do you know about Sandwell’s Safe Spaces Scheme?

Dear Resident,

Today Sandwell Police have been running Op Advance, a day of all-out policing action that you can see across our social media channels. 

Although this activity and more is what our officers are doing 24/7, this day offers an opportunity to shine a light on our partnership working and positive results from planned operations.

We wanted to use this day to remind our residents that there are a number of partners dedicated to keeping you safe, alongside West Midlands Police. An example of this is the Sandwell Safe Spaces Scheme. 

The Safe Spaces Scheme, led by Sandwell council, provides a safe place indoors for anyone who may feel vulnerable, distressed or worried while visiting the borough. 

Safe Spaces are buildings such as shops, libraries and other businesses where you can go if you feel unsafe. They can offer you support and help to call for a loved one or the police. 

These registered venues are spread across the whole of Sandwell and include many town centre and high street locations. 

In West Bromwich high street alone there are nine dedicated Safe Spaces, including banks, charities and the central library. They can be identified by the Safe Spaces sticker on display in the window and on our Safe Spaces map here - Sandwell Safe Space Scheme – Google My Maps

The Safe Spaces Scheme is supported by West Midlands Police and the West Bromwich Business Improvement District.
