Air guns are not toys. They are weapons capable of causing serious injury and can have life changing consequences.
Anyone using an air gun irresponsibly may face arrest, prosecution, a criminal record, fines, imprisonment and the seizure of the weapon. It is an offence to fire an air weapon in a way that endangers others or allows pellets to leave the boundary of the property where it is being used.
Air weapons should be stored securely when not in use. They should be kept unloaded, out of sight and inaccessible to children or anyone not authorised to use them.
Parents and guardians are reminded that allowing young people access to air weapons without proper supervision can have serious consequences for everyone involved.
Residents across Wardleworth, including Milkstone & Deeplish and surrounding areas, are encouraged to report any concerns involving air weapons. If you see someone carrying or using an air gun in a public place, or behaving in a manner that causes alarm or distress, please call 999 in an emergency or 101 for non-emergency matters.
Working together, we can help keep our community safe.
