🌞 Summer Burglary Prevention |
Dear Resident, As the weather improves and many people spend more time outdoors or head away on holiday, burglars may look for opportunities to target homes that appear unoccupied.
Help protect your home by following these simple steps:🔒 Lock all doors and windows before leaving your property, including upstairs windows. 🏡 Make your home look occupied by using timer switches for lights and asking a trusted neighbour to collect post, remove leaflets and move bins if you're away. 🔑 Keep keys, valuables and important documents secure and out of sight. 🚗 Protect your vehicle by using additional security measures such as steering wheel locks, alarms or trackers. 🚲 Secure sheds, garages, bicycles and garden equipment with good-quality locks. 📹 Install or maintain security measures such as burglar alarms, CCTV and video doorbells where possible. 📱 Avoid sharing holiday plans or real-time travel updates on social media until you have returned home. 👀 Report suspicious activity to police and support your local Neighbourhood Watch scheme. Remember:Lock it. Light it. Make it look lived in. Many burglaries are opportunistic, and a few simple precautions can make a significant difference in protecting your home and belongings. For further crime prevention advice, please contact your local Safer Neighbourhood Team. 🔒🏠 Stay safe this summer.
