Nuisance Motor Vehicles - Aylesham |
||
|
Good Morning,
Over the past few weeks, Kent Police have received an increase in reports of nuisance motorcycles and E-Scooters within the village of Aylesham. Most of these reports relate to off road motorcycles that should not be ridden on our roads and making excessive noise causing a disturbance and danger to the public. This was also highlighted to me at my most recent drop-in session where concerns were raised by attending local residents.
As a quick update, we are well aware of this current issue and are making efforts to address this as robustly as possible. On Wednesday, Kent Police Road Safety Unit (RSU) attended the area with multiple resources in unmarked and marked police vehicles and motorcycles. Several motorists were spoken to and one high powered E-Scooter was seized and the rider reported by officers. Yesterday, myself and other officers from Dover Community Safety Unit as well as a police motorcyclist from the RSU attended the village in marked and unmarked vehicles. An electric throttle propelled E-Bike was seen being ridden along a pavement. The rider was stopped and reported and this vehicle was also seized.
Myself and my colleagues will continue to proactively patrol the village and as stated, deal robustly with all identified offences included the seizure and likely destruction of illegal motor vehicles. Please be aware that if you have a child who owns an E-Scooter, these cannot be used on UK roads or pavements. To avoid these being seized, please only allow them to be ridden on private land with the landowners consent.
Please continue to report nuisance motor vehicles to Kent Police either by calling 101 or via the Kent Police website. My next local drop in session will be held on Wednesday 12th August 2026 between 10am and midday at Aylesham Community Trust, Ackholt Road, CT3 3AJ. No appointment is required, please feel free to come along and see me to discuss any local issues or concerns.
Have a lovely weekend,
PC Bowler
