St Alphege Crime update

Anti-social behaviour involving youths continues to be a concern in Solihull town centre. Groups of youths gathering in public spaces can sometimes cause disruption through vandalism, noise, intimidation, or other nuisance behaviour affecting local residents and local businesses. Parents and guardians play an important role in knowing where their children are, who they are with, and what they are doing, particularly during evenings. Encouraging responsible behaviour and maintaining open communication can help reduce antisocial behaviour and make the community safer for everyone. The West Midlands Police encourage our young public to act accordingly when in our town centres. Anti-social behaviour and intimidating behaviour is not acceptable.

No burglaries have been reported.

Two arrests have been made in relation to domestic violence.

Vehicle crime prevention advice

To prevent vehicle crime, always lock your car, close all windows, and remove or hide all valuables. For extra protection, use physical deterrents like steering wheel locks, secure your license plates, and if you have a keyless entry vehicle, store your key fob in a signal-blocking pouch. Parking in well-lit areas can also help deter thieves. A steering wheel lock is a visible and effective deterrent that makes your car appear more difficult to steal. Use a signal-blocking pouch or box for your key fob when at home to prevent "relay" attacks where thieves amplify your key's signal. Fit a Thatcham-approved alarm or aftermarket immobilizer to make theft harder and consider a system that allows for real-time GPS tracking, which can help recover a stolen vehicle.

Burglary crime prevention advice

To prevent burglary, secure your home with strong locks, visible alarms, and exterior lighting. Make valuables invisible from windows, use timers for lights when away, and keep your property, including sheds and outbuildings, locked at all times. For added security, you can register items with serial numbers online. Always lock all doors and windows, even for short trips. Make sure side and back gates are also secure. Fit visible burglar alarms and motion-activated floodlights. Ensure doors and windows are burglar-proof, such as by using security-rated products also please do not leave ladders, garden tools, or other items outside that could be used to access windows. Keep shrubs trimmed so they don't block views of windows.
