Safer sleep for babies in the summer months ๐ |
||
|
Warmer weather and summer holidays can make it trickier to follow safer sleep advice, which reduces the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
Youโll need to keep your baby cool while also managing travel plans and a change to your routines.
๐๏ธ If you are staying in a caravan, lodge or hotel, check what equipment is provided before you travel. Cots, travel cots and Moses baskets are all good options. Your baby could also sleep in a carry cot. Check the advice from the Lullaby Trust first: Safer sleep on holiday | The Lullaby Trust
๐บ Remember that whilst car seats are essential for your baby to be safe whilst driving, they are not designed to be a main sleeping space. Take regular breaks on long journeys. When you arrive at your destination, itโs recommended that you take your baby out of their seat and place them on a firm, flat surface to sleep. Find out more here: Car seats | The Lullaby Trust
We are sharing this advice in conjunction with the Nottinghamshire Safeguarding Children Partnership and The Lullaby Trust to offer evidence-based advice to help you keep your baby safe and comfortable during the summer months. For general advice please visit: Hot weather | The Lullaby Trust
