Summer school holiday events at West Midlands Police Museum

Looking for an exciting way to keep your children entertained during the summer holidays? 

During the school holidays, the Lock-Up is hosting a series of fun, interactive sessions where young recruits can step into the shoes of the police and discover what it takes to keep our communities safe.

Running every Thursday from 23 July to 27 August, ‘Tally Ho! Thursdays – Police Training Academy’ gives children aged 3–12 the chance to explore a variety of policing roles through hands-on activities, challenges and interactive learning.

Each week focuses on a different area of policing, allowing children to experience the skills, teamwork and responsibilities involved in keeping communities safe.

Training Schedule

23rd July: Detective Training

Put your investigation skills to the test as you examine clues, solve puzzles and crack the case.

30th July: Mounted Unit Training

Learn about the role of our police horses and our officers, and how they support policing operations.

6th August: PC Training

Learn what it’s like to be a Police officer and take on front-line policing challenges.

13th August: Traffic Control

Discover how officers keep roads safe and traffic moving smoothly.

20th August: Public Order Training

Learn about the teamwork, planning and communication required to manage large-scale public events.

27th August: Contact Handling & Dispatch Training

Go behind the scenes to find out how emergency calls are managed and how resources are deployed to incidents.  

Event Information

Each session will last approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Three sessions are available each day at 10:30am, 12:00pm and 2:00pm.

Tickets cost £2 per child, per session.

Places are limited, so early booking is recommended to avoid disappointment.
