PCSO Update - July 2026

Good afternoon!

A few updates for you from over the last couple of weeks.

Firstly, I, with my colleague 7323 Cozens and 7935 James held a speed op on Deer Park Road through Towneley Park, between the play area and garden centre. This is a 20mph road, but we caught some road users going up to 50mph! Some drivers were stopped by officers and spoken to, and all others recorded going over the speed limit will also be contacted in due course. Please be mindful the park is a shared space by members of the public, children and wildlife alike, and remember the limit is there to keep everyone safe.

Secondly, Calico housing have contacted us to let us know of some anti-social behaviour concerns in and around the Brunshaw area over the past week or so. This includes children playing ‘knock a door run’ and playing ball games in areas where things are likely to get damaged or broken, including vehicles. Did you know, in the law, criminal damage can also be caused even if it wasn't intentional, but if someone is behaving recklessly enough that something was to become damaged, it would also constitute an offence. We're very lucky in the north of England to have such an abundance of park space, so please be mindful of where your children are playing, who this may impact, and speak to them about considerate and community mindful behaviour. This way, we can minimise the impact on our neighbours, stop any potential damage to property (unintentional or otherwise), and enjoy the lovely park spaces! 

Thirdly, with our schools breaking up for their long awaited summer holidays, and the recent bouts of heatwaves we've been experiencing, now is a really good time for us as parents to re-establish boundaries and rules relating to behaviours and our expected conduct as members of our communities. I urge you to remind children (big and little!) of the dangers of swimming in open water, no matter how strong a swimmer they might be, who they need to contact in an emergency, how to do that, and to ensure you as parents have a system with your young people of knowing where they are, who they are with, and the places you are happy for them to be if they are out and about without your supervision. Children are always the responsibility of their parents, even if you are not physically with them!

Please remember, if you see anything that doesn't look right, or you need to report a crime, you can do this on 101 (or 999 if it is a life threatening emergency). Without the reports, we can't offer you as much support!
