Distraction Theft on the street

I wanted to provide you an update regarding Personal theft (e.g. pick pocketing, no violence used), which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

Criminals are targeting members of the public by stopping them on the street and distracting them with fake jewellery. While engaging victims in conversation or placing jewellery on them, they steal genuine jewellery and valuables.
Stay vigilant, keep your distance from strangers, and never allow anyone to touch or place items on you.
If you witness suspicious activity, please report it to police.
