Man charged after reports of thefts from vehicles

A man has been charged as part of an investigation into thefts from vehicles in Potters Bar. 

Police had received numerous reports of items being stolen from within vehicles in the Darkes Lane, High Street and Oakmere area of Potters Bar. 

An appeal for witnesses was issued last week as police urged motorists to ensure their vehicles were secure. 

Robert Deweaver-Maitchell, aged 33, of Cornerfield in Hatfield, was arrested at his home address on Thursday (16 July) by PC 153 LAYCOCK.

He was subsequently charged and remanded with eight counts of theft from motor vehicle and one count of fraud. 

He has been bailed by the courts ahead of a hearing on the 20th August 2026.
