World Drowning Prevention Day – Lancashire landmarks to light up blue

Today is World Drowning Prevention Day – a global campaign raising awareness that while anyone can drown, no one should.

We are working with our partners to share this year’s theme, Unite to Turn the Tide. The campaign highlights that preventing drowning is something we all have a role to play in. By working together and taking simple steps to stay safe around water, we can help prevent lives being lost.

To mark the day, landmarks across Lancashire will be lighting up blue this evening in support of the campaign. These include:

• Blackpool Tower
• Lytham Windmill
• Rivington Pike and Pigeon Tower
• Marine Hall, Fleetwood
• Skelmersdale Light Cube
• Chorley Town Hall

We will be sharing photos of the landmarks across our social media channels and encouraging our communities to join the conversation by sharing their own images if they spot one of the locations lit up blue.
