Man charged following incident in Lowestoft

A man has been charged in relation to an incident in Lowestoft where a person climbed onto the roof of residential properties.

Officers were called to Grosvenor Road at approximately 6.45pm on Saturday 18 July, to a report of a disturbance and a physical altercation believed to involve a small group of people.

Officers attended and a potential male suspect was seen in St John’s Road who then climbed onto the roof of a property in St John’s Road.

Police, with specialist officers including negotiators, were joined by the fire and ambulance services.

The situation was safely resolved and the road closures were lifted shortly before 10.20am yesterday morning, Sunday 19 July.

The suspect, a 27-year-old man, was detained by police and subsequently arrested on suspicion of six counts of assault (GBH), two counts of robbery, five counts of criminal damage, theft from a shop, theft of a motor vehicle and on recall to prison.

Lavell Farman, 27, of no-fixed-abode but of the Lowestoft area, was subsequently charged with five counts of criminal damage, two counts of attempted wounding with intent and one count of intentionally / recklessly causing a public nuisance.

He is due to appear at Great Yarmouth Magistrates’ Court today, Monday 20 July.

Shortly after being called to the initial altercation an injured man was located. He was supported by officers and paramedics and taken to hospital for treatment. The man, aged 40, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of two counts of robbery.

Toby Mulholland, 40, of no-fixed-abode but of the Lowestoft area was charged with one count of robbery and is due to appear at Great Yarmouth Magistrates’ Court today, 20 July.

A 13-year-old boy was arrested at 7.35pm on 18 July on suspicion of common assault, obstructing a police officer, assaulting an emergency worker and affray. He was taken to Great Yarmouth PIC for questioning. He has since been released on bail to return to police on 5 September.
