Community Update – Mortlake High Street

Good morning, 

We would like to provide a brief update following the significant police activity on Mortlake High Street on 18 July 2026.

A male has now been charged with assault offences and remains in police custody ahead of a court appearance at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on 20 July 2026.

We understand that the visible emergency service response and road closures may have caused concern within the local community. 

However, we would like to reassure residents and businesses that this was an isolated incident involving individuals known to one another, and there is no ongoing risk to the wider public.

Neighbourhood officers will continue to maintain a visible presence in the area and engage with local residents, businesses and community groups to provide reassurance and address any concerns.
