Members of the public are reminded not to enter the bog area or walk onto exposed lake bed sections at Chasewater. These areas may appear solid and safe to walk on; however, the ground can be extremely unstable with deep, soft mud beneath the surface. Individuals can quickly become stuck, placing themselves at significant risk of injury, exhaustion, or becoming unable to free themselves without emergency assistance. Incident Today (17 July 2026) Earlier today, emergency services, including Police, Fire and Ambulance crews, attended an incident in the Chasewater bog area after a 15-year-old became stuck in deep mud. The young person was safely rescued by emergency services and did not sustain any serious injuries. This incident highlights the very real dangers associated with entering these areas and serves as an important reminder for all visitors to remain on designated paths and viewing areas.
