E-scooter seizure |
Today, Chipping Norton Neighbourhood Team have seized an illegal E-scooter from the Cornish Road area.
Unfortunately the teenage rider was unaware of the legal requirements for using E-scooters.
Before buying your child an e-scooter or electric bike, please make sure you understand the law. Privately owned e-scooters cannot be used on public roads, pavements or cycle paths, and electric bikes that have been modified or exceed the legal power or speed limits are also be illegal to use on the road. Police regularly stop and seize illegally used e-scooters and non-compliant e-bikes. If a vehicle is seized, it will NOT be returned, meaning you could lose a significant amount of money. These vehicles can cost hundreds or even thousands of pounds, so please think carefully before making a purchase. Taking a few minutes to check the legal requirements could save you money and help keep your child – and others – safe. If you’re unsure whether an e-scooter or e-bike is legal, please check before you buy. A little research now could prevent disappointment later. | ||
