Closure order granted for Millfield shop

Dear Resident,

Last week, our Neighbourhood Support Team, Special Constables and the council's Trading Standards officers carried out a joint operation at Next One Shop on Alexandra Road as part of ongoing work to tackle criminality within the so-called "grey economy".

Following the operation, a closure order was granted for the premises. The order prohibits anyone from entering the shop until 9 September, with the exception of the landlord, authorised contractors acting on their behalf, and members of the emergency services.

In addition to the findings from the operation, there have been three drugs-related arrests connected to the premises this year:

Failure to comply with the order is a criminal offence which could result in imprisonment for up to three months, a fine, or both.
