🚨 BURGLARY ALERT – ROTHLEY 🚨 Leicestershire Police are investigating a burglary in Rothley where an unoccupied property undergoing renovation was targeted. Offenders have gained access to the address and stolen a water tank and associated lead piping/materials. This incident highlights a growing trend of offenders targeting empty properties, building sites and homes undergoing renovation, particularly where valuable metals such as lead and copper may be present. Crime Prevention AdviceIf you own, manage or are working on a property that is currently unoccupied or being renovated, please consider the following: 🔒 Ensure all doors, windows and gates are secure with quality locks. 💡 Install motion-activated lighting and consider temporary CCTV or alarm systems. 🏠 Visit the property regularly and ask neighbours to report any suspicious activity. 🚧 Secure scaffolding and building materials to prevent easy access to upper floors. 🔩 Remove or securely store valuable materials, tools and metals wherever possible. 📷 Mark and record serial numbers or take photographs of valuable items and equipment. 🚗 Be vigilant for suspicious vehicles or individuals paying particular attention to empty properties or building sites. Report Suspicious ActivityIf you see anyone acting suspiciously around vacant properties, taking an unusual interest in renovation works, or loading metal items into vehicles, please report it. 📞 Call 101 or report online at www.leics.police.uk 🚨 In an emergency, or if a crime is in progress, always call 999. Please share this message with neighbours, friends and anyone carrying out renovation work in the Rothley area. NL56 Beat Team | ||
