As we enter wildfire season, please remember...

As we enjoy the beautiful outdoors across Bolton - whether it's our moors, forests, or wide-open spaces - we urge everyone to take extra care to help prevent wildfires. Wildfires can spread quickly, and it's essential that we all do our part in keeping our landscapes safe.

Avoid smoking on the moors: If you must smoke, always make sure to properly extinguish and dispose of your cigarette butts. never throw them out of your car window.

No disposable BBQ's on the moors: Instead of bringing a BBQ, pack a picnic and enjoy responsibly.

Take your rubbish home: Glass bottles, when exposed to sunlight, can start fires. Always make sure to clean up after yourself and take your rubbish with you.

The sun is shining across Bolton today, and with warmer weather comes an increased risk of fires. If you happen to spot a wildfire while you're out and about, please don't hesitate to call on 999 - and remember, don't assume someone else has already reported it.

When you call, please provide as much information as possible to the call handler, including:

A detailed description of the location - or use WHAT3WORDS.

An estimate of the size of the fire.

The terrain of the area.

Any other relevant information that could assist our teams.
