HELP PREVENT WILDFIRES |
||
|
Staffordshire Fire and Rescue have seen an increase in wildfires in recent weeks, and weβre asking for your help to keep our communities, countryside and wildlife safe.
Wildfires can spread incredibly quickly, requiring a significant response from emergency services and placing members of the public, emergency services, buildings and local wildlife at serious risk.
Only recently, officers came across a group of young children lighting a fire on Shoal Hill in Cannock. Thankfully, the fire was extinguished before it could spread to nearby trees and vegetation, preventing what could have been a much more serious incident.
What can you do to help?
π₯ Speak to your children about the dangers and consequences of setting fires.
π₯ Report concerns if you know someone is deliberately setting fires. Information can be provided anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
π₯ Leave the BBQ at home - disposable and portable barbecues should not be taken onto Cannock Chase or into local parks and open spaces.
π₯ Take your litter home and dispose of it responsibly. Items such as glass bottles can contribute to fires during hot weather.
π₯ Call 999 immediately if you see a fire or anyone deliberately setting one.
By working together, we can help protect our countryside, wildlife and local communities from the devastating impact of wildfires.
