PC Riaz has continued proactive engagement across Castlefield, meeting with local residents, businesses, and key stakeholders to discuss the key issues affecting the community. These conversations directly shape our patrol plans and ensure we remain focused on the priorities raised by local residents and businesses.
Community Patrols & Engagement
Throughout the week, PC Riaz carried out targeted patrols across Castlefield, speaking with residents and partners about concerns including begging, shoplifting, and ASB driving.
Male Engaged in Dangerous Begging – Arrested for Recall
During one patrol, officers encountered a male begging towards passing drivers, placing himself and others at risk.
As PC Riaz attempted to engage with him, the male ran off but was quickly detained. Checks confirmed he was wanted on recall to prison, and he was arrested and taken into custody.
Prolific Shoplifter Arrested
A known prolific shoplifter, responsible for repeated thefts affecting a local Castlefield business, was located and arrested.
He has since been charged and bailed with conditions, providing reassurance to staff and helping reduce repeat offending.
Traffic Operation – Deansgate & Liverpool Road
In response to community concerns, PC Riaz conducted a traffic operation on Deansgate and Liverpool Road targeting anti‑social driving.
Several drivers were:
• Issued warnings for ASB driving
• Prosecuted for traffic offences
This work aims to reduce dangerous behaviour and improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and other road users.
Forensic‑Marked Vehicle Stopped – Driver Had No Licence
During another patrol, officers observed a vehicle bearing forensic markings being driven in an anti‑social manner.
The vehicle was stopped, and checks revealed the driver did not hold a driving licence.
He was issued with a traffic offence report, and the vehicle was seized.
