Water Safety Message

Dear resident,

We've been experiencing some hot weather the last few weeks.

Upton-upon-Severn Safer Neighbourhood Team along with colleagues from Malvern and the Malvern Hills Trust will continue to monitor Gullet Quarry.️

 As tempting as cool water can look, the dangers of swimming in rivers and quarries remains the same even when the air temperature is higher than normal.
 

 Cold water might seem refreshing, but ‘Cold Water Shock’, strong currents and hidden hazards beneath the surface can all be life-threatening.

If you fall into water unexpectedly, remember the RNLI’s float to live advice:
Fight the instinct to thrash about
Lean back, extend your arms and legs
Move gently if needed to help you float 
Float until you can control your breathing 
Only then call for help, swim to safety, or continue floating until help arrives
