Hello Beckton, It’s been a busy week for thieves on our streets. Read on to find out which items are being targeted and from where. Attempted Theft of Vehicle 05/07/2026 – Two suspects were seen trying to steal a vehicle in Albatross Close. A witness called the police, but the suspects had already left. Officers searched the area but did not find anyone matching the description. The vehicle was registered to a local address, but the occupants did not wish to speak with officers, but it was confirmed that the registered keeper does not live there. 07/07/2026 – A work van parked in the Premier Inn car park was found with a drill hole in the side door. Theft from a Person 02/07/2026 – A distraction theft occurred at the ASDA cash machines. 05/07/2026 – A mobile phone was snatched near ASDA. 05/07/2026 – After arranging a meeting on Tollgate Road to sell an iPhone 17 Pro Max, the buyers grabbed the phone and ran. 05/06/2026 – The lock on a clothing donation bank at Tesco, Armada Way, was broken and clothing was stolen. Theft From a Vehicle 07/07/2026 – Power tools were stolen from a van while it was parked near Gallions Reach DLR station. Theft of Vehicle 02/07/2026 – A driver was delivering a vehicle to a client. When they pulled over on the A13 to help someone, another person stopped under the guise of helping and stole the vehicle. 03/07/2026 – A black Ford Focus was stolen from the ASDA car park. 04/07/2026 – A BMW was stolen from River Road by unknown means. Public Order 03/07/2026 – A passenger challenged individuals who were playing loud music on a 262 bus. The suspects became abusive and followed the victim when they got off the bus, threatening to punch them in the face. Road Rage 24/06/2026 – Following a minor collision outside KFC, a man shouted at two women, took their car keys, and locked them inside their own vehicle, leaving them deeply shaken. Sexual Assault 08/07/2026 – Just before midnight near Strait Road in Beckton Park South, two women were walking home. As they passed a male, he reached out and squeezed one woman's breast. The suspect is described as Asian, 5’9” tall, with short hair and a short beard, aged 18–25, wearing dark shorts and red sandals. While this description does not mean everyone matching it is guilty of an offence, please remain vigilant. If you see someone matching this description acting suspiciously or following you, head to a well-lit area immediately. It is always okay to call 999 if you feel scared or intimidated. That is everything for this week. A few quick safety reminders: Keep your personal possessions out of sight and avoid using your mobile phone while walking down the street. If you are using a cash machine and someone tries to talk to you, tell them firmly to move away. If they do not, please call out for help.
