Local Burglary Message

Here’s an update on burglary locally.

Unfortunately, there was an attempted burglary the other night on the Cheam ward. This occurred during the early hours when the occupants were upstairs in bed. It appears the suspect tried to gain access to the property by a downstairs OPEN window. Luckily for the owner the dog managed to scare the suspect away & nothing was taken.

This is a gentle reminder to all residents that especially during these warm periods, it is important to keep windows shut & locked when not in the property or in bed. This also includes little windows or windows that can be left semi- open, on latches, as these can be fairly easy to break open.

Across London, we’re now arresting more than 1,000 extra criminals every month and seeing local crimes like burglary, robbery and theft start to fall, with ‘neighbourhood crime’ down 14%.
