Security during Hot Weather

Whilst on foot patrol today there were a lot of doors to flats and houses understandably left ajar to allow a through breeze in the property.

I understand this assists trying to cool down an area but it does pose a security risk. Thieves are opportunists.

A lot of people hang handbags on the back of the door so they don't forget them when they go out. A split second theft could occur to get it out of the property.

I spoke to lots of residents today to make them aware.

Enjoy the good weather and remember to close your doors at night and keep windows on a security latch if on the ground floor.

There have been a few attempted burglaries in our area.
