I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Nuisance motorcycles, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. With the hot weather and the football, unsurprisingly, last weekend was a busy one in Sheppey East. In just 2 days we dealt with the following incidents along with numerous others.
Officers in Leysdown arrested a male on suspicion of being drunk in charge of a child. Officers safeguarded the children until another relative was able to collect them. This investigation is ongoing.
Officers in Leysdown stopped a vehicle that has previously been brought to my attention for driving erratically and causing a nuisance. The vehicle was seized and the driver reported for driving without insurance.
Officers in Leysdown saw a vehicle being driven and located it parked up moments later. The driver was then located as he returned to the vehicle and after providing false details he was arrested. He then provided his correct details but was unable to provide proof of insurance therefore he was reported for driving without insurance and the vehicle was seized.
Officers attended Kingsborough Manor Community Woodland, Eastchurch for a report of nuisance motorcycles being ridden. I directed some colleagues to cover various access points and they were able to stop 2 off road bikes (see images). Unfortunately, on this occasion the riders made off on foot and could not be located but the bikes were seized and will likely be crushed.
Officers saw a vehicle which was of interest due to information from the community suggesting its involvement in drugs. Once the vehicle was located, it immediately failed to stop for police and a pursuit was authorised. Unfortunately, this resulted in the vehicle colliding with a member of public’s vehicle however thankfully no serious injuries were reported. After running from the crash scene, both of the occupants of the suspect car were arrested on suspicion of the driving offences and possession of drugs with intent to supply based on items found in the car. This investigation is ongoing.
Officers also attended a report of a disturbance in Eastchurch, a suspect was arrested on suspicion of assault, and the victim was taken to hospital for treatment. There was mention of a potential weapon being used during the incident therefore officers conducted a search of the suspect’s property and seized a number of items. This investigation is ongoing.
