What’s been happening

An attempt burglary has been reported to us on Thorns Road, Quarry Bank, where an offender has attempted to climb through an unsecure window. Considering this, please see below some guidance/advice for residents:

Don’t let burglars take advantage of the heatwave

Summer is here, and while we enjoy the warm weather, let's not forget about keeping homes safe.

Criminals will take advantage of open windows and propped open doors, even if it’s the back door.

Keep you and your home safe this summer by following these useful tips:

Make sure doors and windows are closed and locked. Even if you’re just popping out, lock up and secure your home.

Consider installing window locks to prevent intruders from easily opening your windows.

Consider installing a home security system with visible cameras and alarm systems to deter burglars.

Keep your valuables out of sight. Close blinds or curtains to prevent prying eyes from scouting your belongings. Shutting the blinds will keep your house cooler.

Consider giving a spare key to a trusted neighbour or invest in a secure key lockbox.

Hosting family or friends in your garden - don’t invite burglars to the party. Keep your side entrance, back door, or garden gate closed/locked.

Tidying the garage or dusting off the bikes for summer adventures? Lock up and keep that garage door closed. It takes seconds for thieves to spot and take expensive tools/bikes/motor vehicles.

For extra security keep porch doors locked, wheelie bins away from low fences or garages, and sheds secure.

Neighbourhood Team Operations/Events

The local officers are continuing to carry out patrols in Amblecote, particularly around Thorns Road, Trinity Road, Withymoor Village and Brettell Lane areas due to reports of speeding and off-road bikes and electric scooters at these locations.

Crime prevention drop-in surgeries have been held at Starbucks (within Sainsburys, Turners Lane) and, also Costa Coffee (off Stourbridge Ring Road). These drop-ins were successful in engaging with members of the local community and establishing concerns.

Patrols have also been carried out around Thorns Primary School, following reports of children having to leave coaches on the Thorns Road dual carriageway, due to parked vehicles in the bus lane! We will continue to work closely with the school and the council, in relation to this.

Patrols have also been undertaken around Amblecote Primary School, with reports of parking issues. We will continue to carry out sporadic patrols, for the safety of the children, at any one of our local primary schools.

Officers are also investigating shop thefts which have been reported to us in relation to the One Stop, Turners Lane and Sainsburys.

*****If you have noticed any suspicious vehicles in your road or any vehicles that appear to have been abandoned, please let us know so we can do some checks on them*****

Off Road Motor Bikes / e-scooters

Off road bikes, e bikes and scooters are a nuisance in all areas - any information, photographs of the riders or bikes is a big help to the police, this will help get these vehicles removed from our streets.
