Absconder Arrested Within 24 Hours

There is positive news to share following the arrest of an adult male in Charing less than 24 hours after he absconded from His Majesty's Prison.
 

A strong multi-agency response involving a number of several local policing teams led to the successful arrest. Officers also worked alongside British Transport Police and Network Rail, using specialist resources including police dog units and drone operators, after the male fled from an address in Charing.
 

Extensive searches were carried out for a number of hours between the Charing and Lenham area, including searches of open fields. The operation also involved activity in the vicinity of the railway line.
 

Residents in and around Charing may have noticed an increased police presence during the search, which caused some disruption to local services. We would like to thank the community for their patience and support while officers worked to locate and arrest the individual.
 

The male is now in custody and further enquiries are ongoing.
