Robbery and Phone Theft advice on Ilford Lane

PCSOs carried out a robbery and phone theft crime prevention engagement on Ilford Lane, speaking with members of the public and local businesses about staying safe while out shopping. 

Crime prevention leaflets, including the “Look Up. Look Out.” campaign, were handed out with advice on reducing the risk of becoming a victim of robbery or phone snatch theft. Key messages included keeping mobile phones out of sight when not in use, remaining aware of surroundings, facing oncoming traffic when walking near roads, avoiding distractions such as headphones, and keeping shopping and valuables secured out of view in vehicles. The campaign also encourages people to enable their phone’s built-in anti-theft features and know what to do if their phone is stolen.  

Members of the public welcomed the advice and engaged positively with officers, discussing recent concerns about phone thefts in the area. Reassurance was provided, and residents were encouraged to report any robbery in progress by calling 999, or report non-emergency incidents via 101 or online as soon as possible.

The event provided an opportunity to increase public awareness, offer reassurance, and encourage crime prevention through simple safety measures.
