Dear Resident, It has come to the attention of the police that individuals have been knocking on doors of residents in Lisvane and Thornhill, offering to carry out various types of work. Unfortunately, what tends to happen in these situations is that if you do decide to let them do work for you, they may ask for either full or a partial payment upfront before carrying out any work. Once they receive the money, this often becomes the last time you will see them, leaving residents feeling scammed and frustrated. It is important for everyone to remain vigilant and cautious in such situation. I kindly ask that if you have elderly family members or guardians living alone, please take a moment to make them aware of these scams. It is important that they understand the importance of not engaging with anyone they do not know, especially when it comes to unsolicited offers for help. If you have any questions or if you happen to know of anyone who has experienced a similar situation, please do not hesitate to report to 101. It is vital that we remain vigilant and informed about these kinds of scams, especially when they are targeting vulnerable residents. I kindly ask if you know any elderly residents who live alone and you could speak with them, I strongly encourage you to engage them in a conversation about the potential dangers of such scams. If you do not have direct contact with these individuals, please let me know, and I will reach out to them myself.
Thank you very much for your support.
Derek
