PCSO Sethi 7025EA and PCSO Khan will be attending the Al-Bayan Welfare Centre on Green Lane, Ilford, at 1800hrs on 08 July 2026 to conduct a youth engagement event with local young people from the surrounding community. The purpose of the event is to build positive relationships between the Metropolitan Police Service and local youths by providing an opportunity for open discussion, engagement, and the sharing of advice in an informal and welcoming environment. The event will support community cohesion and help increase trust and confidence in local policing. With the commencement of the summer holidays approaching, a key focus of the engagement will be the delivery of crime prevention and safeguarding advice aimed at keeping young people safe during the holiday period. Officers will discuss personal safety, remaining aware of surroundings when out in public, and measures that can be taken to reduce the risk of becoming victims of robbery, theft, or anti-social behaviour. Further discussions will cover the dangers and consequences associated with carrying weapons, involvement in violence, and negative peer influences. Officers will also provide guidance regarding online safety, responsible use of social media, recognising potential risks linked to online grooming and exploitation, and the importance of reporting suspicious activity. Attendees will be encouraged to raise any concerns affecting them, their friends, or the local area. Officers will provide reassurance where appropriate and signpost individuals to relevant support services and community resources available to young people and their families. The event will also promote positive activities available within the community during the summer break and encourage young people to make informed and responsible choices. This engagement aims to strengthen partnerships between the police, local youth groups, community organisations, and residents while supporting efforts to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour. | ||
