Hello all, Apologies that June’s update is delayed, I know there will be plenty of you on the edge of your seats awaiting this…but this is because we have had an extremely busy few days and I am only now getting a chance to write this. Please see below for an update from us in relation to Community Policing across the electoral wards of Kinross-shire and a large portion of Almond and Earn. As before, some of our duties get posted about on ‘Police Scotland Tayside’ social media accounts and we also provide reports for our 8 community councils, to include in their meetings which cover incidents of note and Police activity in the specific areas. Below is a flavour of some of our activities in June - COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT Joining the Milnathort Bike bus that encourages children cycling to Milnathort Primary School. We have been getting the miles in and carrying out specific cycling patrols around Loch Leven, on the back of complaints raised from the RSPB staff about off-road bikes using the heritage trail. We have not observed any of these bikes during patrols, but we will continue to do them and liaise with RSPB staff. It is illegal to use these bikes without the landowner’s permission. Attending Cleish & Blairadam, Kinross & Portmoak Community Council meetings. On Saturday 6th June, we were in attendance at Milnathort Primary School for “MP In The Park”. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and were glad to see such a good turnout. We would like to thank everyone involved for having us and showing such enthusiasm. We were there with our van, showing people how to work the lights and sirens and our equipment, which people were able to try on. It was great to see how interested and excited the children were when coming to see us.Ongoing work into larger scale neighbourhood disputes which have escalated requiring Police intervention. SCHOOL ENGAGEMENT PC Samson attended an Integrated Teams Meeting (ITM) at Kinross High School which is a regular meeting that brings partner agencies together to discuss the needs of pupils. Speaking to the P1 class at Milnathort Primary School about what being a Police Officer is like and how we help. We also provided the class with ‘My Police’ books, written by a serving Police Officer, focusing on creating a positive relationship between the Police and children. Attending Forgandenny Primary School and speaking to all the pupils about being a Police Officer, showing them our uniform and vehicle. OPERATION STARDROP This is Police Scotland’s operation designed to address violence involving young people and there was a specific week of action, that we were involved in. Below is some of our activity during this week;Anti-bullying talks at Fossoway and Arngask Primary School, discussing how this can lead to criminality and providing information to enable pupils to make positive and healthy life choices. As well as doing preventative work, we pro-actively detected several crimes involving young persons. This involved 6 youths being charged for various offences in Kinross and Abernethy as well as intervention advice given to 2 other youths, for issues reported to us which were not criminal in the hope of preventing escalation. On top of this, we continued to patrol ‘hotspots’ for anti-social behaviour etc. CRIME Dealing with an outstanding apprehension warrant and dealing with the arrest of this person.Arresting and charging a female for offences involved in a larger scale neighbourhood dispute in the Kinross area.Assisting colleagues by taking part in a ‘week of action’ against domestic abuse preparators, arresting and charging outstanding offenders. TRAINING PC Duncan attended a cycle proficiency course, meaning she can join PC Samson on cycle patrols!PC Duncan attended an early intervention through education course at the Scottish Police College, upskilling herself in this area. OTHER Assisted in Perth with a procession.Policing at Heartland music festival in Pitlochry.Along with colleagues in South Perthshire CPT, we held bike marking events in Crieff, Auchterarder, Bridge of Earn & Kinross. This is crime prevention tool used against the theft of bikes. For more information, see the bike register website - https://www.bikeregister.com/ . As always, if there is any feedback you would like to give us and anything you would like us to include, then please reach out. Similarly, we are keen to hear on what you would like to see from us in your area. If anyone wishes to contact us, please use the below email address or reply directly to this alert.
