On the evening of Wednesday 1 July 2026, neighbourhood officers identified a moped that had come to police attention in connection with suspected drug-related activity across Royton, Shaw and Crompton. Officers conducted a follow on the vehicle and, with assistance from specialist roads policing officers, brought the moped to a safe stop using authorised tactics, including the deployment of a stinger. Following the stop, the rider was detained and searched. Officers recovered a quantity of cannabis and the rider subsequently tested positive for cannabis during a roadside drugs test. The rider was arrested on suspicion of drug-driving offences and taken into police custody for further investigation. This activity forms part of Greater Manchester Police's ongoing commitment to tackling drug-related crime, reducing anti-social behaviour and keeping local communities safe. Anyone with information about crime or anti-social behaviour in their area is encouraged to contact Greater Manchester Police via 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. #YourCommunityYourPriority | ||
