Castlefield Update - Arrest After Three Months Wanted for Shoplifting & Burglary

A male responsible for repeated shoplifting at a store in Castlefield, along with a linked burglary, has now been arrested and charged following a multi‑division effort by GMP.

The male had been wanted for over three months, with officers across several divisions attempting to locate him. After being identified early in the investigation, he was circulated as wanted, and the City Centre Neighbourhood Team continued targeted patrols and active enquiries to track his movements.

He was eventually arrested in a different GMP division, bringing an end to months of attempts to locate him. He has now been charged with multiple offences, including theft from a shop and burglary, and has been remanded in custody to appear at the next available court date.

Neighbourhood officers will continue working closely with local businesses, maintaining high‑visibility patrols and taking firm action against those who target shops and commercial premises.
