Weekend update |

|
Your local neighbourhood team have been carrying out patrols around key locations across Rochdale, particularly the reservoirs, during the recent period of hot weather. Warmer conditions tend to attract more young people to these areas, where open water is often used as a place to cool down, socialise, and have fun. However, entering open water is extremely dangerous due to risks such as cold-water shock, hidden hazards, and strong currents.
Officers will continue to provide a visible presence in these areas. Where individuals are identified, they will be engaged with and educated on the dangers to help keep everyone safe.
We would like to remind the public to: Report any concerns to us
✅ Stay safe and enjoy the weather responsibly.
Throughout the weekend during the evening periods, officers have continued anti-social behaviour patrols around Sudden and Manchester Road. Our visible presence in these areas has helped to deter groups and reduce incidents of concern. On Saturday, officers also carried out proactive activity as part of Operation Dragster, targeting the use of off-road bikes. There were sightings of off-road vehicles, however these were displaced towards the neighbouring Lancashire border. While officers-maintained observations, due to limited resources at the time, we were unable to safely seize the vehicles. Patrols and targeted operations will continue as we work with partner agencies to tackle this ongoing issue, but one driver was received a Section 59 warning.
Further to this, on behalf of the team, we would like to thank our volunteers for their continued support. Your willingness to give up your time to assist with these operations is greatly appreciated and makes a real difference to the work we do.
✅ We will remain committed to addressing anti-social behaviour and off-road vehicle use across the area.
Kind regards, | ||
