Creation of Problem Solving Record - Footway from Petrol Station to Stainmore Ave |
||
|
Good Morning Resident, A Problem Solving Record is a structured document used by police to record how they are identifying, managing, and resolving ongoing or repeat issues within a community, such as anti-social behaviour or recurring incidents. It sets out the nature of the problem, looks at the underlying causes, and outlines the actions being taken by police and partner agencies to address it. The Problem Solving Record also includes a review stage to assess whether those actions have been effective, ensuring a longer-term solution is found rather than simply responding to individual incidents as they occur.
The team will be working with partners (Tameside Council Departments, Local Councillors, Housing etc) as part of this Problem Solving Record.
An adopted footway is basically a pavement or footpath that forms part of the public highway and has been officially taken on by the local council or highways authority under the Highways Act 1980. This means the council is responsible for looking after it, such as carrying out repairs, resurfacing, gritting in winter, and making sure it’s safe for people to use. It is generally an offence to drive or use a vehicle (Quad Bike, Off Road Bike, Bicycle) on an adopted footway, as these areas form part of the public highway but are intended for pedestrian use only. Under current legislation, vehicles are not permitted to be driven along footways, although they may cross them where necessary, such as to access a driveway or property. There are limited exceptions for authorised vehicles, such as emergency services or council maintenance. Overall, unless there is lawful authority or a legitimate reason to cross it, vehicles should not be on a footway.
Now we need the data…. Reporting is really important, as it helps police build an accurate picture of what is happening, where, and how often. We must stress that this Problem Solving Record is specifically for vehicles using the footway from Stainmore to the Petrol Station.
If you have any information regarding who is using the vehicles or where they are being stored, then this information can be passed via crimestoppers anonymously at Giving information | Crimestoppers
