Would you like to help form a Neighbourhood Watch Group for Thornlaw Road |
||
|
Thornlaw Road does not have a Neighbourhood Watch group but appears to have the number of individual participants and community spirit necessary for a successful group and Jon Williams would like to look at forming one.
This is to ask those living on Thornlaw Road who ate on the NHW database who are interested to e-mail him to discuss via jonnyred77@gmail .com
I apologise that you will have received this after your street party which might have provided an opportunity.
The generic guidance for creating a group is here How to start a Neighbourhood Watch scheme - step by step | Neighbourhood Watch Network . On the same website there is wealth of material on what groups might do e.g Supporting Communities | Neighbourhood Watch Network and Loneliness and vulnerability | Neighbourhood Watch Network.
In practice, most NHW groups in Lambeth begin quite small, as a link between the Whatsapp and/or Facebook groups covering the street/estate (from tracking errant cats and misdelivered parcels to organising street parties) and the police neighbourhood team (e.g. collating footage of parcel thieves) and the Safer Neighbourhood Panel (to secure joined up action on crime “hubs”.
What is done via the NHW and what is done by the wider group varies with the co-ordinator and a couple of helpers informing the division of labour, supported by the wealth of material on the NHW website. | ||
