The Piccadilly Gardens Team had another proactive and productive weekend on patrol, delivering a number of positive outcomes through high-visibility policing and targeted enforcement across the city centre. On Friday evening, PC Lomax located and arrested an offender who was wanted after failing to appear at court, ensuring they were brought back before the justice system. Later that night, PC Duffy arrested a male who was wanted by Immigration Enforcement. The individual had previously entered the UK illegally via a small boat and had failed to engage with immigration authorities. Although the arrest was successful, the male was later released on bail due to complications surrounding the deportation process. The team’s momentum continued when Sergeant Wyatt arrested a male on Oldham Street on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly after he had been causing ongoing issues in the area. Saturday proved equally busy. PC Simm arrested the same male previously detained by PC Duffy, this time on suspicion of drug offences following further police enquiries. Meanwhile, PC Lomax made a second arrest of the weekend after swiftly detaining a male who had assaulted members of the TravelSafe team on Parker Street. Reflecting on the weekend’s activity, Sergeant Wyatt said: “This weekend highlights exactly what the Piccadilly Gardens Team is here to do – being visible, responding quickly to incidents, and taking positive action against those causing harm or disorder in the city centre. I’m proud of the team’s professionalism and commitment, and these results demonstrate the difference proactive policing makes to keeping Manchester safe.”
