PC Steve Waters and Patrol Dog Skye, along with PC Martin Cummings and PCSO Sarah Diaper of the neighbourhood team, attended Saltash Community School to support staff and student awareness around misuse of drugs. Random classrooms were selected and students then requested to file quietly past Skye with their belongings. Skye is a passive dog, trained to subtly indicate to her handler if she detects a person has either been in possession or contact with controlled drugs. No concerns were raised, the purpose of today's visit being educational, however if any were identified the school and police would work together to address them. We would like to extend our thanks to Safeguarding Leads Mr Evans and Ms King and SENCO Jordan Speare for inviting us to the school, and for their assistance on what was a very hot day. It was a delight to meet the many students who were polite and accommodating during our time there. |
