Hello;
This morning officers from GMPs Integrated Offender Management Team were in the Breightmet area when their attention was drawn to a young male riding a Silver Honda Vision Motorcycle in the Waggon Road area. The rider had no helmet and the bike was bearing no registration plates. The male quickly made off from the officers into woodland, however two legs quickly proved to be better than two wheels and the male was swiftly detained. Examination of the motorcycle showed it to be a stolen vehicle which had been taken by means of Robbery in the Bolton area at the end of May.
The detained male was arrested in relation to the theft and driving offences and conveyed to custody while enquires continued. The motorcycle has been recovered for examination and return to the rightful owners.
As the investigation continues we would be keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the motorbike in the area prior to this incident or may have further information regarding this matter.
Did you see anyone leaving the vehicle? Did you see anything suspicious regarding this vehicle? Do you know where the bike was being stored?
Do you have any dashcam footage or CCTV footage that may captures the vehicle or anyone associated with it in the area around that the time?
In the event you have any information or find any footage that you feel may be of interest to officers get in touch by replying to this message or emailing: 66033@gmp.police.uk with your name, telephone number or email address. We will then contact you to discuss.
In the event you have CCTV or Dashcam footage please preserve this footage by saving it or downloading it from the device. We will then be able to send you a link to upload the footage to our CCTV Portal.
We know that the inappropriate and illegal use of motorcycles is a huge concern for residents in the area and we are working hard to deal with these issues and those responsible. Todays work shows that all units within GMP work together irrespective of core focus to solve these issues .
Alongside this day to day work Operation Hurricane is GMPs dedicated operation for tackling the illegal use of vehicles, particularly off road vehicles & motorcycles. This intelligence lead operation uses GMP specialist operations motorcycle and intercept teams and air support including drones and fixed wing aircraft with long loiter times to root out vehicles and offenders and leads to numerous seizures and prosecutions.
As the operations are intelligence lead it is crucial that the public support these operations with timely reports of vehicles being used to GMP via 101 or Online. Intelligence relating the use, storage and people using the vehicles can be passed on anonymously via Crimestoppers.
Intelligence is the lifeblood of modern policing, anyone with any information is encouraged to contact police directly on 101, online at www.gmp.police.uk, using the reply button on this email or you can also report anonymously to Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111 or the Crimestoppers Website crimestoppers-uk.org.
Please don’t underestimate the significance of any information you hold however small or insignificant it may appear – the piece you hold may be the final piece in the jigsaw. Please don’t assume we already know, or someone else will tell us. As a final note THANKYOU to those residents and passers-by who took time out of their day to offer bottles of water / drinks - we cant accept them all but every offer is greatly appreciated.
