Warm Weather and Water Safety Advice |
||
|
🌊Water Safety: Whether at the coast, rivers or reservoirs, please take extra care. Never swim alone, understand the risk of cold water shock, avoid jumping from any height due to risk of injury and hidden hazards or obstacles in the water. Sudden changes in depth or strong currents can put even strong swimmers at risk. Follow RNLI advice. https://rnli.org/safety
🔥BBQ's and campfires: If you are using a BBQ or campfire please ensure that it is placed on a flammable surface and never left unattended. Fully extinguish it before leaving. Embers can stay hot for hours and easily start grass or woodland fires. They can also cause injury.
☀️Heat Safety: Stay hydrated, use shade, and avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day.
👵Look out for the vulnerable: Check in on elderly neighbours, people living alone and anyone who may struggle in the heat.
🐶Dogs in cars: Never leave a dog in a vehicle during warm weather. Even a short time can be life threatening. Call 999 if a dog is in distress.
Thank you for helping keep our communities safe.
